How do we make orthopedic corsets?

MANUFACTURED IN OUR IN-HOUSE WORKSHOP
100% CUSTOM-MADE

The process begins with a 3D scan of the torso, from which we obtain a stylized digital mold for adjustments.

The file is processed using the OrtIS Essential CNC milling machine by Roboticom, which creates a physical polyurethane mold that is manually refined. The selected plastic material is then thermoformed and assembled.

After a trial on the patient, we refine details such as heights and pressure points to ensure correction and comfort.

FAQs on Custom-Made Corsets

An orthopedic corset is used to correct poor posture, support the spine, and treat conditions such as scoliosis, kyphosis, lower back pain, or other orthopedic issues.

The main types of orthopedic corsets include:

  • Scoliosis corsets (such as the ChĂȘneau or Boston brace)
  • Lumbar corsets (for lower back issues)
  • Dorso-lumbar corsets (for kyphosis or other back conditions)
  • Post-operative corsets (for recovery after surgery)

The choice depends on the medical diagnosis and the patient’s specific needs. It is essential to consult a specialist doctor or an orthopedic technician to identify the most suitable model.

At first, it may feel uncomfortable, but over time, the body gets used to it. It’s normal to feel slight pressure, but the corset should not cause pain. If there is excessive discomfort, it is recommended to consult the orthopedic technician for possible adjustments.

The wearing time varies based on the medical prescription. For scoliosis, for example, it may be necessary to wear it for 18-23 hours a day, while for other conditions, a more limited use may be sufficient.

It may limit some movements to provide the necessary support to the spine, but it does not prevent daily activities such as walking or sitting.

For cleaning, it is recommended to wipe the surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, then allow it to dry completely before reusing it. Avoid soaking it in water or using harsh cleaners.

The duration depends on the patient’s growth or the wear of the device. In cases of scoliosis in children and adolescents, it may be necessary to replace it multiple times until growth is complete.
